S
chool may still be weeks away from concluding another year but for many, the swimming pools around the area will be packed this Memorial Day. Even though this most somber of our national holidays is a time to remember our fallen patriots; for many the best way to pay homage is to celebrate life. And sometimes the best way to celebrate the coming of sommer is by going swimming.
Maybe it's the return to our basic nature on this water planet but, there's something about the wet stuff that just lends itself to having fun and enjoying life.
With the economy still on the rebound many residents will opt to take a "stacation" instead of going on the road to get out of town. With temperatures already bumping the 100 degree mark in the Upper Valley and higher on the Westside; it's no wonder that the area pools will be the gathering spot.

The water is still a bit chilly from spring nights.

Still, with few public pools for Upper Valley residents, some will spend time in smaller home built-in or portable/inflatable pools. And you can be sure that many kids will find a way to get the hose turned in their direction.
