J ust when rumors of global warming were leading to predictions of a severe drought for the southwest rain throughout the Mesilla Valley has ened any speculation of low water. And of course, thanks must be given the southern most tip of the Rocky Moutains... our Organ and Franklin mountain ranges... for keeping some of that moisture here in the area to insure that all of us have plenty of water on our lawns and gardens.

Last year as we reported, the Las Cruces/El Paso/Cd. Juarez area was in a severe drought prediction zone but the rains came throughout the summer and fall. This year we have had plenty of heavy rains along the Rio Grande valley in our neck of the world.

Rain in May broke the dry spell and then heavy rains in June beat the usual monsoon season that usually starts on the 4th of July. July, however, started out with a good drenching on the 1st of July but there has been lots of close calls but no rain since.
