T
he Santa Teresa Desert Warriors may have been expecting the "old" El Paso Tiger football team... but, what they got was the "new"... as in "undefeated" Tiger team. El Paso High School has not been a huge threat in district 4A for some time... the Tigers were 2-8 last year. But, those days are seemingly gone. And altough the Warriors fought valiently and never gave up El Paso outlasted the Warriors 34-26 at Santa Teresa.
At one point the Tigers were up by two scores but the Warriors closed the gap to one touchdown most of the night. The game went back and forth and the Warriors fought back to get within striking distance but ran out of time.
Another thing that the Warriors may not have been expecting was for El Paso running back James Saenz to run for over 300 yards.
