Vol. 7.5.1   October   14,   2010
Election 2010 - Endorsements:
El Paso's Upper Valley & Westside

Now it's time for everyone on the Westside and Upper Valley to get to the polls and cast their vote of CONFIDENCE in the United States of America. In other words... VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

And if you want our opinion on our area's biggest races... take a look below.

Justice of the Peace - Precinct 7.

Judge Bruce King should be re-elected to another term. He is doing a good job and until someone with the same or nearly the same level of education comes along... he should be kept in office to provide continuity. His challenger, Dion Dorado, has exhibited signs that he might not be the best person to replace Judge King. For one thing, his signs include the word "El"... to make the sign look like El Dorado... and since his name is not "El" it shouldn't be on the sign... nor should the word "Judge" under his name.

County Commissioner District 4.

Here again, the incumbent, Commissioner Dan Haggerty is doing a good job and until the County Commissioner's Court evolves... Haggerty's "No" vote is needed. Dr. Eduardo Servin, has not been active in county politics nor has he ever been involved in Upper Valley causes. Don't get us wrong... Haggerty is NO angel... but, his fiscal perspective is needed right now. Someday, real leadership will be needed in the District 4... not in this economy.

State Representative - District 79

This one is easier. Representative Joe Moody is ready to kick some butt as he heads into his second term. He is a real intelligent and conscientious public servant and deserves to go back to Austin and continue to grow as a very strong voice for the Upper Valley and the Westside. His opponent, Dee Margo, is just too obvious as a bought ringer by big money interests. Time to make Margo... a two-time loser... a three-time loser.

State Senate - District 29

This one is a no-brainer. Former County Attorney Jose Rodriguez has the experience, conscientiousness and dedication to be a tremendous State Senator. His partnership with Sen. Eliot Shapleigh on a number of issues make his entry into Congress transition free. Dan Chavez is a sacrificial lamb.
