The banks of the Rio Grande were under water as monsoons and the remnants of Hurricane Bonnie poured moisture into our area nearly every week. But, unlike in 2006 there has not been a serious threat of the Rio Grande cresting above its levie system.
Areas of the banks that are normally used by joggers and people walking along the banks are often times covered with more than an inch of water and remain muddy and impassable for a week... and by then another rain will come and the cycle starts all over again.
But, the dogs love the mud and water on the banks so walkers can still bring their dogs an walk along the levie while their dogs roam the swammp.
