Upper Valley Rainy Day... Perfect for Weeding?

Upper Valley resident, David Rosen, was busy in between rainy downpours to get to the root of his weed problem. Weeds are a problem... a big problem for area residents and the rains have been exacerbating the seasonal blight.

But, along Country Club road near the Rio Grande, Rosen had on his gym shirt on and his workout gloves wet with rain and mud... and he wasn't stopping when there was a fine drizzle saturating the area again. In fact, Rosen said "If it doesn't rain too hard... I just keep pulling."

This resident is taking the City of El Paso's environmental policy seriously and Rosen knows that this portion along Country Club is his responsibility. However, many residents are unaware of what area of the canals, irrigation ditches and roadways in the Upper Valley are thier responsibility.

Residents have complained that the Department of Public Health have been less than helpful in providing that information. Some have contended that the City has actually mowed areas without notifying the residents and then sent them a huge bill. Our requests from Mr. Michael Heath, new director, were not returned.
