Act II: Winter 2004-2005.
Wintery weather re-appears with a mix of rain, snow and fog. Although we had some cold temperatures last year, we haven't had any real snow to speak of in the last couple of years. A second heavy fog was to be expected after this blast of cold air.

Three Seasons all Together.
The warmth of Indian Summer was chilled a bit with weekly rains. Then came the cold weather. The moisture turned to snow at higher elevations.

The local newspaper's weathermen didn't predict it; instead of reaching the mid 60's the valley barely rose above 50 degrees for 2 consecutive days. So no more late summer. Fall Colors... Turn, Turn, Turning!
The rains have brought much needed moisture and the temperatures have been cool in the valley... not too cold. This combination makes for the perfect ingredients to turn the trees brilliant shade of yellow, orange, rust and red.

Our Indian Summer lasts into October. But this year, perhaps because of a new El Niño shaping up in the Souther Pacific; there have been an abundance of rain and cloudy days. And while our neck of the woods doesn't usually get the same fall colors as does New England or Colorado; this year the Upper Valley is as spectacular as you could want. Fall is for Chile.

Big chile... little chile. Be sure to eat and use lots of chile. After the heat of summer, chile starts its colorful transformation. First a vivid green to bright red as the temperatures cool.
