T
he UTEP vs. Texas football game last year in El Paso and in Austin this year brought with it a lot of renewed school spirit. Not only did UTEP get a big boost in popularity but, so did Texas.
Also last year's game between undefeated Texas and Texas Tech and with Texas ranked # 1 and Tech ranked in the top ten; there are a surprising number of new shining emblems out in force.
Westsiders yearn for the day when their beloved UTEP Miners can share some of that limelight and make the Top 25 once again. But with the Miners falling to both Texas and Kansas this year the interest waned. However, UTEP's huge win over Houston ranked # 12 at the time was solid for sales of UTEP emblems.
