hen you think of Mardi Gras, the first thing that comes to mind is "P-A-R-R-RR-R-R-T-I-I-I-I-I!!!!". Celebrations will be held throughout the Westside and Upper Valley on Fat Tuesday... February 16, 2010.
Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday is the day of preparing for the Christian tradition of fasting for Lent starting on Ash Wednesday. To celebrate before and after the fasting is a logical result of a mix of medieval pagentry and preparation prior to celebration of Easter Sunday. Putting the two together, Mardi Gras is kind of like a New Year's celebration.
There will be plenty of party going on around the Westside and the Upper Valley. In Kern Place near UTEP, stop in at the Cincinnati Bar & Grill, O'Hagans Irish Pub and you can start the party with some great fish tacos and a Tecate at the So-Cal Baja Grill. The Mesa Street Grill is also a great spot to start or end your night. Also, further north don't miss the party at Erin's Pub.
