M ake that 2-in-a-row! The UTEP Miners were firing on all cylinders as they stood up tall and played like they should... and in the process demolished a completely overwhelmed New Mexico State University Aggie team that is still trying to find its identity and punch. The Miners won it's second straight I-10 Rivalry.

There were no more "Oh... ohhhhsss" in the Sun Bowl Stadium last Saturday night as the Miners ran and passed at will from the opening whistle... AND quarterback Trevor Vittatoe was allowed, given the reins, or decided enough is enough; as he ran for a career high 58-yards and passed for five touchdowns. The Miners scored a touchdown on their first drive for the third straight game.

It was obvious that these two teams were on two different levels of evolution; the Miners are tweaking and fine tuning their powerful muscle car and the Aggies are still deciding how their engine, exhaust, fuel-injection and tires will best work together.

Nonetheless, it was a big victory for the Miners as they won their third straight home game and they haven't done that since 2007 and are now 2-1 for the season. The offense piled up a balance 249-yards on the ground and 246-yards through the air... without giving up a turnover.

Speaking of Vittatoe stretching it out; he hit WR Kris Adams for a 68-yard touchdown, WR Hunter Pierce for a 45-yard catch and hit native El Pasoan WR Julio Lopez with an 18-yard TD pass. This was Lopez' first reception as a Miner as he played at Montwood High School prior to coming to UTEP.
