W ho will get to hoist and keep the pick... er, the Silver Space and the UTEP-NMSU rivalry trophy... the Mayor's Trophy; a spittoon for a whole year? The Miners need the victory to keep hopes of a winning season this year and a possible bowl game invitation... the Aggies need a win because their wins are harder and harder to come by lately. One thing for sure... both teams will be figthing like... well, like miners and aggies. And you know... they just don't get along.

The Miners lost to the Aggies in 2008 for the second straight year but, UTEP's QB Trevor Vittatoe was injured in that game and yet the Miners kept it close and almost won that game. In 2009 the Miners trounced the Aggies as the game finished at about midnight because of a tremendous rain and lighting storm that halted play right after the Miners scored their first of many touchdowns on their first drive of the game.

The two teams will clash at the Sun Bowl on September 18, 2010 at 7:00 PM. UTEP is favored but in these rivalry games you can sometimes through the stats and record book out the window.

Okay, Miner and Aggie fans... let's fill up the Sun Bowl and get this PARTY started. See you at the game.
