Parking in Kern Place is Soooo Bad During Miner Games.
Police Ticket and Tow Cars.
El Paso Police Department's Officer Dana Ellingson works diligently to canvas the Kern Place streets that have car after car parked illegally in a "No Parking" zone.

T Police were ticketing cars that were parked in "No Parking" zones on several streets east of Stanton and Cincinnati. This area had been overrun before the signs went up. In fact, the reason the signs went up was that home owners could not even get into their own driveways. And when people came back to their cars the neighbors homes were disturbed or worse by the rowdy fans heading for the bushes.
A gift to drivers that ignore the "No Parking" zone. These are not criminal citations. They are civil but a fine is ordered.

Long gone are the days that 10,000 fans would go to the Miner games at Kidd Field. Now with 40,000 on a slow night parking in lots is a problem and fans have to find other places... and they don't want to walk too far.

Well, walk they will from Kern Place. The streets perpendicular to Cincinnati and Baltimore for 3 blocks east...toward the mountain are designated "No Parking".

Ellingson, also indicated that you can't park 15-ft. from a fire hydrant, 20-ft. from a curb access at the corner and at no time can you park in a "No Parking" zone when the designation of times includes the current time.

The EPPD has to send staff into Kern Place every weekend when the Miners are playing to make sure that drivers don't get the idea that these areas are not enforced. Enforced they are... and if a ticket isn't enough... cars can be towed at the owners expense.
